Goencho Ekvott gives 2-day-ultimatum to take back cases against Melauli locals

PANAJI

Goencho Avaaz on Thursday demanded that Police Inspector Sagar Ekoskar who violated Human Rights while acting against protesting Shel-Melauli residents should be suspended immediately and within three months after the inquiry, he should be terminated.

Goencho Avaaz co-convenor Swapnesh Sherlekar in a press conference also demanded that the cases slapped against the villagers of Shel-Melauli should be immediately taken back unconditionally.

"Our third demand is land mutation done for IIT should be cancelled and names on I and XIV form should be reverted to original owners," said Sherlekar,

Sherlekar while condemning the brutal action of the police against the agitating villagers in Shel-Melauli said that these types of incidents should not happen again.

"Police is protecting Sunburn organisers by going out of their way while acting against the poor people in Melauli," said Sherlekar.

Captain Viriato of Goencho Avaaz said that the IIT project is coming at the wrong site and this project will only benefit the real estate lobby which has land near the proposed project.
