Governor PS Sreedharan Pillai chaired a meeting with high level delegation of G20 summit at Raj Bhavan on Monday.
Sanjit Rodrigues, Secretary, Protocol and Nodal Officer G20 Goa State briefed about the meetings that would be held in Goa shortly.
Harsh Vardhan Shringla, G20 Chief Coordinator, L Ramesh Babu, JS (Summits), Col. Vivek Arya, OSD(Logistics), Ashok Kumar Sharma, Consultant(Logistics), Arvind Singh, Secretary, Ministry of Tourism, Govt. of India, Jasvinder Singh, Director G20, Ministry of Tourism, Radha Katyal Narang, Director G20, Ministry of Tourism, D. Venkatesan, Regional Director, Indian Tourism West, Ministry of Tourism, R K Dhawan PS to Secy, Ministry of Tourism, Dhiraj Wagle, Dy. Director, GTDC were present during the meeting.
Governor briefed the delegates of G20 summit about the various programmes and initiatives taken by the Raj Bhavan. India is a wonderful country and that Goa is surrounded with rich cultural heritage which adds beauty to our country. "I have visited and acquainted with various places in Goa," he added.
Briefing about the 'heritage yatra', the Governor informed the delegates that he has undertaken tours of the southern part of the State to learn about the rich eco-cultural traditions attached to the trees. Such information must reach the people in publication format, he added.
As per the G20 schedule, two ministerial and six other meetings will be held in the State spread across the next four months. The first meeting in Goa will have the attendance of international health officials and delegates.
From April 17-19, the 2nd Health Working Group Meeting will be held at Grand Hyatt, Bambolim-Goa and the 3rd Development Working Group Meeting is scheduled from May 9-10, location of which will be decided in the next few days.
Three meetings will be held in June that start with the 3rd International Finance Architecture Working Group Meeting on June 5-7 and SAI20 Summit from June 12-14. The 4th Tourism Working Group Meeting followed by the ministerial meeting (Ministry of Tourism) will be held from June 19-22.
Later, in July, an Energy Working Group Meeting is scheduled followed by the second Ministerial Meeting (Ministry of Power).
MRM Rao, IAS, Secretary to Governor was also present during the meeting. Governor later took the delegates around Raj Bhavan.
