The State government on Monday approved the promotion of 10 Deputy Superintendents of Police (DySP), three days after the Goa Public Service Commission (GPSC) recommended their elevation to the rank of Superintendent of Police (SP) at a Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) meeting.
“On the recommendation of the DPC as conveyed by GPSC… the Governor of Goa is pleased to promote the following Junior Scale Officers of Goa Police Service to Senior Scale Officer of Goa Police Service, on regular basis…with immediate effect,” reads the order signed by Under Secretary (Personnel) Nathine Araujo.
The officers have however been asked to hold their present post until further orders.
The DPC meeting chaired by GPSC Chairman Jose Manuel Noronha with Director General of Police Jaspal Singh and IAS officer Subash Chandra as members paved the way for promotions of the 10 DySPs that also comprise four women officers namely Maria Monserrate, Gurudas Gawade, Edwin Colaco, Nelson Albuquerque, Sucheta Dessai, Ezilda D’Souza, Sunita Sawant, Rajendra Dessai, Dharmesh Angle and Kiran Poduval.
The GPSC had recently accepted modifications to Goa Police Service guidelines which allow authorities to fill in 60 per cent of posts of DySPs through promotions and 40 per cent through direct recruitment.
