With mounting pressure to hand over the Sonali Phogat murder case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), the State police have formed a five-member team who will leave for Hisar on Tuesday.
The team headed by a police sub-inspector will record statements of the grief-stricken family members at her native village. Places frequented by Phogat will also be visited by the police team.
“The team led by a PSI will head for Hisar on Tuesday,” Director General of Police Jaspal Singh said. The officers have been imparted the required training to investigate the matter in coordination with their counterparts.
Meanwhile, the government will submit an Action Taken Report (ATR) to the Haryana government, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said on Monday.
Sawant told reporters that the Goa Police is investigating the case in the right direction. “I would like to say that Goa police have so far done a good investigation”, the chief minister said.
He said the ATR will be submitted to the Haryana chief minister and the Director General of Police.
Sawant on Sunday had said his government was ready to hand over the Phogat death probe to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), if required.
