Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said the government was committed to providing robust support to industries through policy reforms, improved infrastructure and skill development initiatives.
He was addressing the 24th Annual General Meeting of the Verna Industries Association (VIA) Kesarval-Verna on Friday evening. Industry leaders, government representatives and members of the business community were present on the occasion.
The event served as a platform to review the Association’s activities, highlight key industrial concerns, and discuss future plans for strengthening Goa’s industrial ecosystem.
Speaking further, Sawant urged industries to partner with the government in creating employment opportunities for Goan youth and assured that industrial policies would continue to focus on sustainable and inclusive growth.
Industries Minister Mauvin Godinho, attending as guest of honour, stressed the importance of a constructive partnership between the state and industry stakeholders.
He pointed out that Goa, with its strategic location, had immense potential for industrial expansion and export-oriented units, provided both sectors worked hand-in-hand.
Goa Industrial Development Corporation Chairman Alex Reginald Lourenco, also present as guest of honour, outlined steps being taken by GIDC to resolve long-pending industrial estate issues and to improve ease of doing business.
He assured that efforts were being made to streamline allotment processes and address grievances of entrepreneurs.
Earlier, VIA President Kalpak Arware welcomed the dignitaries and presented the association’s report, outlining initiatives taken to promote industries in Verna and surrounding areas.
VIA Vice President Rajesh Prabhu, General Secretary Pradip Da Costa and Treasurer CA Ganpat Kapdi also shared insights on the association’s achievements and challenges.
Members discussed issues such as infrastructure gaps, labour availability, and the need for greater government-industry coordination.
The AGM also emphasised the association’s role as a bridge between policymakers and entrepreneurs in shaping Goa’s industrial growth.
The meeting concluded with an interactive session between members and dignitaries, providing a valuable networking opportunity for participants.
