All lands of the government which have been usurped by private parties and sold or otherwise will be taken over, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said on Wednesday.Referring to the ongoing investigation into land-grabbing cases being conducted by the SIT constituted by his government, Sawant said the scale of the case is big and that he would at an appropriate time address a press conference to make specific findings public.
"This matter is very big. One day I will address a special press conference on this matter and will give all details," the Chief Minister said while speaking to journalists.
Earlier last week, the SIT probing the land-grab matter had received an official complaint from the Mamlatdar of Sanguem alleging that some 71 plots which have been notified as government land were sold.
Investigations by the SIT had revealed that the Sanguem land was notified as government land at the time of transfer of powers post the Liberation of Goa.
Sawant said all government lands which have been fraudulently transacted will be taken possession of by the State.
"When I became Chief Minister, I had said that 'Na Khaunga, Na kisiko Khane Dunga'. Government lands which are encroached will be taken back. Government will take possession of it," Sawant said.
No encroachment on government land will be tolerated, he added.
The SIT is already probing over 100 parcels of land where transactions are dubious. Most of the cases are in Bardez taluka. It has so far made nine arrests but the accused have since been bailed out by courts
