Saying the recent findings by the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) highlighting financial and procedural irregularities in the conduct of Invest Goa 2024 are deeply concerning and demand immediate institutional introspection, the Aam Admi Party has urged the government to initiate an independent inquiry into the financial approvals related to Invest Goa 2024.
AAP Vice-president Roque Mascarenhas has further urged the government to order the probe and fix individual responsibility for bypassing procedures; implement audit recommendations without delay and commit to greater transparency in future public-private initiatives.
As a political leader and representative of the people of Curtorim, Roque said he believe the public has a right to know who is accountable for these lapses. “While the operational responsibilities lie with the executive officers and procurement authorities, the Chairman of the Goa Industrial Development Corporation (Goa-IDC) at the time, Shri Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenço, who also chaired the Investment Promotion Board, must also accept oversight responsibility for failing to ensure proper checks and balances during such a high-profile summit”, he said.
He added: “Let us be clear: this is not about personal blame, but about institutional transparency and the need for reform. When public money is spent without due diligence, the burden falls on every Goan citizen. The Aam Aadmi Party has consistently stood for clean governance, transparency, and accountability ” and we will not remain silent when governance is compromised. Goa deserves development, but not at the cost of due process or public trust”.
