GSCB ex-chairman Ramchandra Mule no more

PONDA: Former chairman of Goa State Cooperative Bank (GSCB) Ramchandra Naik Mule passed away on Monday following a short illness. He was 73. The final rites were performed in his native village of Adpai.

Mule had previously served as sarpanch of Adpai-Durbhat panchayat and, in 1999, was nominated by the Congress party to contest the assembly elections from the Madkai constituency.

He had done a lot of work in the cooperative sector. After starting small cooperative institutions in Adpai, he entered the state-level cooperative movement as the director of GSCB.

He went on to serve as president of GSCB for a number of years, strengthening the bank across the State.He had also contributed to the construction of many temples in the Adpai-Durbhat area and was associated with many social and cultural organisations in Ponda taluka. Power Minister Sudin Dhavlikar and a number of leaders offered their condolences on the demise of Mule.
