GSUDA issues tender for GIS tech to handle municipal property tax

PANAJI

Property and construction taxation administration within civic bodies of North Goa could soon be managed by a common software technology which uses geographic information system (GIS) mapping.

A tender worth Rs 10-crore for developing a GIS based software application to manage construction and property tax related administrative work of the civic bodies has been floated by the Goa State Urban Development Agency (GSUDA).

Some of the functions proposed to be covered by the application include the conduct of detailed survey of properties for tax assessment, checking unauthorized construction, generating a QR code of dwelling units for 'house tax' collection as well as to manage solid waste collection and disposal.

GSUDA is the nodal agency for assessment of property tax in the jurisdiction of civic bodies including the Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP).

Once developed, the GIS-based software application will be used by the agency to survey properties door-to-door and use the data to determine taxation policy and rates based on capital value of the property.
