Bad conditions of the main roads in the village dominated discussions at the gram sabha of the village panchayat of Guirdolim on Sunday.
The meeting chaired by Sarpanch Sonia Fernandes saw agitated members questioning the delay by the PWD to take up the road repair works. In fact, they pointed out that the patch work carried out by the PWD have failed to provide any relief to the motorists on the main roads.
When the Sarpanch replied that she had taken up the matter with the Cuncolim MLA and Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao, the members demanded that the panchayat should take up the repair works through its own funds given the huge delay by the PWD to repair and restore the roads
Sarpanch Sonia, however, explained the agitated gram sabha members that the Panchayat funds are meant to take up other works, including repairs of the drainages in the village.
The Sarpanch assured the members that she would once again take up the issue of bad condition of the roads with MLA Yuri to get the PWD repair the roads at the earliest.
