Gujarat life-term convict caught in Margao after jumping furlough

MARGAO: Margao Town Police have apprehended a convict from Gujarat who was serving a life sentence for a crime registered at Khambha Police Station.

After receiving information from Khambha Police, Margao Town Police detained Paresh “Pancho” Rajabjai Jogadiya, 30, who is serving a life term in connection with CR No. 7/15 registered at Khambha Police Station in Amreli district, Gujarat.

Police said the convict had escaped after jumping furlough and had been absconding since September 2025 from Ahmedabad’s Sabarmati Jail. Margao Police have now handed him over to Khambha Police Station.

Cash stolen from Shetty Eye Hospital office in Fatorda

MARGAO: The centre head office of Shetty Eye Hospital at Borda-Fatorda has been burgled by unknown persons. The burglars made off with cash amounting to Rs 1.90 lakh. A complaint lodged by Prashant Naik, a resident of Fatorda, stated that the unknown person entered the centre head office of Shetty Eye Hospital, broke open a drawer and stole Rs 1,90,000 in cash. The Fatorda police are investigating.
