Health officials dealing with the outbreak of cholera and diarrhoea cases at the fishing jetties at Cutbona and Mobor besides Malim are breathing it easy with no cases reported in the last 3-4 days.
"Except for one solitary mild case two days ago, there have been no reports of anyone suffering from diarrhoea," Dr Utkarsh Betodkar said.
Betodkar, who is the State epidemiologist and has been closely monitoring the health situation at the jetties, said the last fresh cases of cholera were reported over two weeks ago at Cutbona and Mobor.
He said, not a single case of SDD (severe diarrhoeal disease) has been reported in the last 4 days from any of the jetties where the outbreak has limited itself.
The outbreak so far has affected 218 people and six have died, all migrants working on these jetties at Mobor-Cavelossim and Cutbona in Betul.
At Malim, there have been reports of several diarrhoea cases and even one death but the case has not yet been confirmed as a case of cholera but is being classified as death due to SDD, Dr Betodkar said.
Down South in Mobor and Cutbona-Betul, there have been at least six confirmed deaths due to Cholera ever since the outbreak first surfaced over a month ago.
