A house was gutted in a fire at Calangute on Thursday night, causing extensive loss to property.
According to reports, the house owner Krishna Naik Parulekar had given the house on rent to a family and they were not home when the fire broke out at about 9.30 pm as they had gone to visit a doctor.
A team of fire fighters from the Pilerne fire station led by Shrikrishna Parrikar and comprising Pradip Mandrekar, Rama Naik, Dinesh Gaude, Vishal Parab, Rudresh Pandhare and Samir Shet went to the site and extinguished the fire.
The fire services said a TV set, refrigerator, electronics, clothes, jewellery and a portion of the roof were destroyed in the mishap.
