Inspector General of Police Omvir Singh (IPS) has been promoted to the rank of Additional Director General of Police with an order issued by the Department of Personnel (Goa government) directing him to hold the additional charge.
“Omvir Singh, IPS, Inspector General of Police, Goa, shall hold the charge of Additional Director General of Police in addition to his own duties, with immediate effect, till further orders in public interest,” reads the order signed by Under Secretary (Personnel-II) Raghuraj Faldesai.
On January 7, the Union Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions increased the IPS cadre strength in Goa under the AGMUT (Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, Mizoram, and Union Territories) cadre from eight to ten posts. Two new positions Additional Director General of Police and Superintendent of Police for the Anti-Narcotics Cell were added.
Before this ministry’s order, the cadre structure included posts for DGP, IGP, Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGP “ Range), DIGP (CID/Intelligence), SP North, SP South, SP CID/Crime Branch, and SP Training/Traffic.
