A meeting of hundreds of villagers held at Junaswada Desai Nagar Mandrem Panchayat Mandal demanded that the government should provide justice to Mary Fernandes and her family.
In this meeting, Mandrem Sarpanch Rajesh Mandrekar Panch Member and former sarpanch Prashant alias Bala Naik, Advocate Prasad Shahapurkar, panch members Chetna Pednekar, Sampada Asgaonkar, Kiran Sawant and Robert Fernandes and Mary Fernandes' two sons Joseph and Dejman Fernandes were present in the meeting.
While speaking on this occasion Advocate Prasad Shahapurkar that the accused is a young man and police can take him wherever they want in police vehicle, but it is not right to take him in private vehicles. Also offering the accused VIP treatment is not in accordance with a law. The law and order situation in the taluka has deteriorated. The incident of murder of Amar Bandekar earlier by non-Goan has shocked the locals. Now a woman has been crushed to death. The government needs to take a tough action in this regard. If the police start giving VIP treatment to the accused then what about the common citizens? Advocate Shahapurkar raised this question.
Adv Prasad Shahapurkar further thanked local MLA Jit Arolkar for discussing the matter with the police and with Chief Minister Pramod Sawant.
Mandrem panchayat will hold an important meeting and discuss with Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and local MLA Jit Arolkar and put pressure on the government to take strict action against this accused.
An important meeting of the people of Mandrem has been organized at Junaswada, said Shahapurkar.
Former sarpanch of Mandrem Bala alias Prashant Naik and Mandrem Sarpanch Rajesh Mandrekar also spoke on this occasion and demanded justice for the deceased's family.
