IMD says dry weather to persist with slightly cooler mornings

PANAJI
Goa will continue to experience dry and slightly hazy conditions for the next one week, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicting marginally cooler mornings even as daytime temperatures hold steady.
As per the IMD’s bulletin on Wednesday, dry weather prevailed across the State in the past 24 hours. Panaji recorded the highest maximum temperature at 32.6°C, while the lowest minimum temperature of 21.4°C was logged at Mormugao and 21.5°C in Panaji.
“Dry conditions are very likely to persist over both North and South Goa districts. Shallow to moderate haze or mist may occur at isolated locations during early mornings till February 3,” the IMD Goa stated in its weekly forecast.
Slightly cooler mornings may continue if northerly winds strengthen after the passage of the western disturbance, although the IMD has indicated that this dip will be marginal.
Minimum temperatures are expected at 21-22°C till February 3. Maximum temperatures will remain steady at 32-33°C.
For the next 48 hours, the maximum temperature would be the same and the minimum would be around 20°C.
The IMD also noted that Goa will witness partly cloudy skies over the next two days.
On Wednesday, while the morning hours remained hazy, clear conditions remained over Panaji where the day temperature touched 31.4°C. The humidity level of 57% pushed the ‘feel-like’ temperature to 34.9°C.
A fresh western disturbance arriving on January 30 will impact northwest India, with no effect expected over the Konkan coast, including Goa.
