In a push towards of women empowerment, Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) Goa Divisional Office celebrated the International Women's Day 2021 in a unique way by converting its retail outlet Laxmi Petroleum in Vasco into an all-women operated retail outlet.
According to a press release by IOCL, this is the first retail outlet in the State state to have all women staff, commemorating the social, economic, cultural and political achievement of women.
The all-women outlet was launched by District Collector (South) Ruchika Katyal on Monday, in the presence of Siddhartha Swarup (Chief Divisional Retail Sales Manager, Goa DO), customers, dealer fraternity and officers from IndianOil.
“This is an incredible step towards gender equality and will go a long way in motivating women. All facilities at the outlet will be operated by women customer attendants in general shift,” stated the press release.
Felicitating the women customer attendants, Katyal interacted with them and complimented them for taking up the noble task of serving society.
Katyal also launched a 'Sanitary napkin vending machine' at the outlet and planted a sapling. She extended her best wishes to IndianOil and encouraged the team to take up more activities which empowers women and that leads to overall betterment of society.
Swarup said women at IndianOil are actively working and excelling in their fields in service to society.
"With a work culture where women's voice counts, they participate and lead on equal footing with men. This all-women retail outlet will further strengthen our vigour to provide best customer service," said Swarup.
