It was Goa's issues versus vote for personalities

Both personalities and burning issues took the centre stage and dominated the fortnight long election campaign for the South Goa Lok sabha seat.

While the BJP focused on the slogan “vote for Pallavi is a vote for Prime Minister Narendra Modi”, the Congress harped on the burning issues plaguing the people of Goa throughout the campaign.

Call it a strategy or not, the BJP has virtually fought the 2044 LoK Sabha election centred on Prime Minister Narendra Modi. No election meeting of the party ended without speakers make a fervent plea to the voters to vote for Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his return to power for the third term. Till the last, Party leaders led by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant insisted that the 2024 election is an election to bring Prime Minister Narendra Modi to power for the third term.

The Congress and its candidate Captain Viriato Fernandes, on the other hand, went about the campaign by highlighting the burning issues plaguing Goa and Goans. Emotive issues, including dual citizenship for Goans, political reservations for the Scheduled Tribes et all figured prominently on the Congress platform.
