PACT Foundation will be celebrating its Foundation Day in the presence of theatre and film actor Anupam Kher, social activist Sonu Sood and PACT founder Dr Ashwin Fernandes on August 8 at Clube Tennis De Gasper Dias at Miramar, Panaji.
The foundation day event will witness the launch of a new scholarship initiative ‘Goa Super 100’ at the hands of Sonu Sood and Anupam Kher.
Originally hailing from Aldona, Dr Ashwin Fernandes is internationally recognised education leader, author, and a change maker. He started PACT foundation in 2023 as a gesture of giving back to his home state Goa.
The PACT scholarship is aimed at propelling 100 Goan talented students from marginalised communities towards higher education. The scholarship will address critical transitions in a student’s journey “ after class 12, ensuring that talented youth are not held back by financial constraints.
The Goan students would be able to pursue undergraduate degrees at reputed universities across India. The scholarship will cover the entire tuition fees of the bachelor’s degree programme (3-4 years) at select partner universities, plus hostel accommodation fees for the duration of the course. The student will only have to pay for books and personal living costs.
The foundation was launched in 2023 by Dr Ashwin as a gesture of giving back to his homeland Goa, after he returned to Goa after years of global experience, aiming to invest in local education.
“I grew up in Goa. I know what it means to rely on the kindness of teachers, the belief of mentors, and the strength of the community,” reflects Dr Ashwin, founder and president of the foundation.
PACT envisions a world where every child has equal access to quality education, women are empowered and youth are equipped to shape a better future.
