Panaji police have arrested a 24-year old youth from Karnataka for committing theft of gold chains worth Rs 3.60 lakhs from a jewellery showroom in Caranzalem.
The accused, identified as Suraj Venkatesh Doamani, a native of Kabalakatti-Gadag Karnataka is currently residing at Caranzalem. He was arrested based on the CCTV footage from the scene and the additional footage provided by the smart city surveillance network.
Police said that during the interrogation, the accused confessed to the theft and all the three chains were recovered.
A case has been registered under Section 305 of the BNS, 2023.
