KTC takes first step to add 100 e-buses to fleet

PANAJI
Kadamba Transport Corporation Limited, the State-owned public transport operator, took the first step to add 100 electric buses to its fleet and called for bids to select a supply and maintenance agency.

The tender calls for bids from agencies for the supply of 9-metre electric buses. The agency will also have to provide maintenance services.

Another condition in the tender is that the electrical and civil infrastructure needed to keep the buses running will also have to be provided by the bidding agency on a lease-basis.

The Corporation hopes to add 100 such buses to its fleet but has not put a timeline to it. If the proposal fructifies, the move could help the Corporation replenish its ageing fleet of buses, many of which may have to be axed due to the Centre's new vehicle scrapping policy which proposes scrapping of public transport vehicles 15 years and older, a top official said.
