In the continuing drive against the narcotic drugs, the Verna police on Saturday arrested one labour supervisor for illegally possessing ganja worth Rs 2.15 lakh at Verna.
According to sources in Verna police station, based on reliable and specific information, a narcotics raid was conducted at Cumborda, Verna on Saturday evening.
“Upon credible information, a narcotic raid was conducted by Verna police station. Narcotic substance such as ganja weighing 2.157 kg all worth Rs 2,15,700 was seized from the possession of accused, Simanchal Bhaskar Swaim (32), a native of Odisha. An offence is registered at Verna police station under the provisions of the NDPS Act and the accused has been arrested under Section 20 b (II) (A) of NDPS Act 1985,” said the source.
According to the source, accused Swaim came to Goa 3 years and was working as a labour supervisor at IDC Verna for last 3 years.
The raiding team comprised of PI Sherif Jaques, PSI Pravin Simapuraskar, PSI Sanket Talkar, PCs Nilesh Kaskar, Ajit Naik, Videsh Naik and Girish Naik.
Further Investigation is in progress under the supervision of PI Sherif Jaques and guidance of Mormugao DySP Rajendra Raut Desai.
