SANGUEM
The Judicial Magistrate First Class Sanguem convicted two persons from Rivona village in Sanguem for illegal possession of 12-bore single barrel gun.
In its order dated December 5, 2020, the JMFC sentenced the duo to simple imprisonment till rising of the court and were also ordered to pay a fine of Rs 5,000 each to the complainant.
In the instant case, the accused persons were arrested by the Range Forest Officer Quepem after a 12-bore single barrel gun was found during a search at their residence. Accordingly a chargesheet was filed before the JMFC Sanguem.
During the course of trial, the State examined the complainant and other witnesses in the matter following which the matter was argued in detail by APP Sanford Fernandes and the advocate appearing for the accused persons.
After going through the evidence on record and arguments tendered by the lawyers appearing for both the parties, the JMFC held the duo guilty of offense under section 3 read with 25 of Arms Act and accordingly sentenced the duo for simple imprisonment till rising of the court and also directed the duo to pay a fine of Rs 5,000 each to the complainant.
