MARGAO
The Congress party has said the reluctance of Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to disclose the amount of expenditure to be incurred on the inaugural function of 60th Goa Liberation Day on December 19, is a vindication of the charges levelled by Congress party of corruption in selection of event management agency.
District Congress party chief Joe Dias said the corrupt and insensitive BJP government has issued a work order of Rs 3.10 crore for the event management agency which was fixed with the instruction of top functionary of the BJP.
“It is unfortunate that the freedom fighters who participated in the Liberation struggle have not been invited for the function, when the Chief Minister himself has announced that 400 invitations are sent to select persons,” Dias said, demanding that the Chief Minister must make public the list of invitees.
Demanding that the government must make public the details of the payments made to the performing artistes. Dias said “Let the people of Goa know how much amount from the whopping Rs 3.10 crore is utilised on the cultural performances which is the main focus of the event.”
Saying that tender document at Sr. No 6 & 7 had a mention of dinner arrangement for 800 people with seating arrangement comprising of 40 round tables and 200 covered chairs, the district Congress president said the Chief Minister on Thursday stated that there is no dinner organised during the function.
Saying that Clause 27 mentions of 6 numbers of hoardings to be displayed at prominent places, Dias said till date not even a single hoarding is erected across Goa on 60 years of Goa’s Liberation, demanding the Chief Minister must provide documentary evidence with proof where and when these hoardings are displayed.
He said the insensitive and corrupt BJP government is making fortunes from the sacrifices of the freedom fighters, adding that the people of Goa are watching and will soon teach them a lesson.
