Seeking a 'holistic plan' to tackle the ferocious second wave of Covid-19, former chief minister Luizinho Faleiro wrote to Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Monday and asked him to adopt the 'vaccinate all' policy.
Faleiro said an aggressive mechanism to control the spread of the virus, the need to adopt a 'vaccinate all' strategy and augment on a war-footing health infrastructure was imperative.
"It is essential that the State government envisage and conceive a holistic policy approach by consulting all stakeholders so that the government has a firm line of action," Faleiro said in his letter, adding that experts be consulted to evolve the plan.
The former chief minister also said in his letter that to make the 'vaccinate all' strategy effective the administrative mechanism needs to be energised by an effective command unit through the fusing of revenue authorities, panchayat and municipal authorities and the health department.
Faleiro also suggested urgent up-gradation of health infrastructure including setting up additional beds with oxygen supply and ventilator facilities.
"It is also imperative that the State government set up extra bed facilities with oxygen supply and ventilators so that not a single life is lost due to paucity of health infrastructure," Faleiro wrote and urged Sawant to act on an urgent basis.
