MARGAO
Trinamool Congress Party (TMC) Rajya Sabha MP Luizinho Faleiro has knocked on the doors of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to build a central museum complex after Dr Francisco Luis Gomes as a befitting memorial to the great son of India at his birthplace, Navelim.Faleiro has written to the PM that he is ready to offer funds from the MPLAD scheme to build the museum after Dr Gomes. He, however, informed that since he represents West Bengal in Rajya Sabha, the utilisation of the funds in Goa may require special permission, adding that if such permission is obtained, that would be his contribution to the museum project.
Seeking a personal audience with the PM, Faleiro said in his letter that he wishes to discuss the project with the PM, adding, “as a grateful Nation, I sincerely hope that you will take this suggestion forward so that Dr Francisco Luis Gomes and his works are made known to all the world and that will be a fitting tribute to the great son of India.”
In his letter, Faleiro said “in keeping with your avowed efforts to removing the colonial mindset from the people of India, I would like to suggest that we celebrate one of India's greatest of sons. Dr Francisco Luis Gomes, a man who went by the sobriquet of Prince of Intellectuals and is even today highly revered in the State of Goa, from where he hails."
