A 20-year-old resident of Madel-Fatorda, Jerrico D’Costa, was found dead along the Margao railway tracks, metres away from the Margao railway station.
Konkan Railway Police Station in-charge PI Gudlar said the deceased was apparently hit by a running train, killing him on the spot. No foul play is suspected by the family, PI Gudlar said, adding that the incident took place in the early hours of Wednesday.
Police said the deceased had reportedly gone to Mumbai for stamping of his visa documents and was scheduled to return home by train in the early hours of the day.
The body of the 20-year-old deceased was found by a railway trackman in the early hours. The post-mortem examination was conducted at the South District Hospital.
