Majority of outstation employees in hotel industry test +ve in Candolim

A large chunk of the total 146 positive cases recorded in Bardez on Wednesday came from the coastal primary health centre of Candolim.

Candolim PHC reported 56 cases and most of the persons who have been infected were outstation workers employed in the hotels in the coastal belt.

“Most of the persons who tested positive were from the working class engaged in the hotel line,” said Dr Roshan Nazareth, Health Officer of Candolim PHC.

He said 12 persons tested positive in Candolim while nine were infected in Calangute. Similarly, 11 persons tested positive in Pilerne, eight in Reis Magos, seven in Saligao, six in Nerul, two in Sangolda and one in Arpora.

Siolim PHC which is also a coastal village reported a total of 28 cases.

According to Siolim PHC Health Officer Dr Sadhna Shetye, 10 persons tested positive in Assagao, eight in Canca, four in Parra three each at Siolim and Anjuna.

A total of 19 positive cases were reported at Porvorim PHC and while 14 persons tested positive in Penha de Franca, two each in Salvador do Mundo and Guirim and one in Socorro also tested positive.

Colvale PHC Health Officer Dr Damodar Narvenkar informed that a total of 19 persons tested positive in Colvale PHC. He said 12 persons tested positive in Tivim, five in Colvale and one each at Central jail and Assonora.

According to Aldona PHC Health Officer Dr Preetam Naik, 13 persons were infected in Aldona PHC. She said six persons tested positive in Ucassaim, two each in Aldona and Bastora and one each in Corjuem, Nachinola and Moira.

Mapusa Urban Health Centre recorded 11 positive cases on Wednesday “ Gaunswaddo (3), Peddem (2) Althino (1), Ganganagar (1), Housing Board (1), Cunchelim (1), Khorlim (1) and Angod (1).
