New Goa Airport Director Dhananjay Rao on Saturday said masks have been made compulsory for passengers, airport staff and people operating at Goa Airport amid a rise in Covid cases.
Speaking to reporters after assuming charge on Thursday, Rao said plans are afoot to facilitate passengers in a better way and to improve facilities while taking into consideration all Covid protocols enforced by the State and central governments.
“Amidst rising Covid cases and as per the guidelines by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), face masks have become compulsory for all passengers and persons working in the Airport terminal buildings," said Rao.
"Necessary measures are in place at Goa Airport in this regards, like automatic hand sanitiser, thermal scanners and even announcements regarding maintenance of Covid protocols are being done regularly.”
“We are displaying the Covid guidelines on our screens for the information of passengers and others. From now on, passengers, staff and people operating from Goa Airport will have to compulsorily wear masks and this is for the benefit of everyone and passengers as well," said Rao.
Rao had earlier served as the joint general manager of the engineering department at Vishakapatnam Airport prior to joining Goa Airport as the airport director.
