Directing his tirade at GPCC Chief Amit Patkar for coming in defense of Opposition leader Michael Lobo, TCP Minister Vishwajit Rane on Saturday said the law is equally applicable for Michael Lobo as well as for Mika Singh, asserting that he will table a report in the Assembly on how many of Michael’s properties have been converted.
Rane said a decision to ban constructions within 100 meters from the heritage sites will be taken soon, adding that a 300-meter buffer zone will be maintained at the heritage sites.
“Who is this Amit Patkar who tells me what I should do? I need not learn from a mining contractor. I am a MBA and I have experts with me. Both Patkar and Michael have struck a deal and they have side-lined leaders such as Digambar Kamat and Sankalp Amonkar. You don’t become a leader after joining a party in three months and by moving in swanky cars”, he told the media.
Saying the sins allegedly committed by Michael will be placed before the Legislative Assembly, Rane warned that no one would be pardoned for the illegalities. “How many of his properties Michael has converted will be placed before the Assembly”, he added.
Vowing to protect Goa and the Goan heritage and culture and maintain the heritage, the TCP Minister said he has taken the decision of enforcing no construction zone within 100 meters from heritage sites, including Churches and other monuments protected by the ASI. “I have taken a decision which no one had taken in the past. There will be no constructions within 100 meters from the heritage sites. A 300 buffer zone will be maintained at the heritage sites”, he added.
