After a long delay, the State government has finally issued the notification revising the minimum daily wages of various categories of skilled and unskilled workers in Goa.
Coming into effect immediately, the notification issued last Thursday, fixes Rs 528 as the minimum daily wage for multiple sets of skilled workers including cook/head cook, clerk, electrician, carpenter, cashier, barman, tailor among others.
For unskilled workers the minimum daily wage has been pegged at Rs 412.
For the semi-skilled a minimum daily wage of Rs 473 has been stipulated.
All these daily minimum wage rates are for cities and towns governed by civic bodies which are classified as Zone 'A'.
In several other economically buzzing rural areas like Calangute, Anjuna, Vagator, Morjim, Cansaulim, Benaulim, Majorda, Mobor, Cavelossim among others classified as Zone 'B' the rates are marginally lower at Rs 525, Rs 470 and Rs 409 for the skilled, semi-skilled and unskilled workers respectively.
