MLA highlights Mormugao water crisis, says govt must solve the issue

PANAJI: Mormugao MLA Sankalp Amonkar has raised serious concerns about the water supply crisis affecting residents of Mormugao Constituency. Amonkar reported that the Public Works Department (PWD) has been providing irregular water supply for an extended period, leading to significant hardship for the local population.

Residents have faced prolonged periods without water, sometimes for up to three-four days. When water is available, it is often only for one or two hours at a time and is supplied at low pressure. This situation has particularly affected people living at higher altitudes, who frequently receive no water at all.

PANAJI: Mormugao MLA Sankalp Amonkar raised concerns about the privatization of berths at Mormugao Port. Out of the port’s total of 11 berths, 10 have already been privatized, leaving only berths 10 and 11 under the control of the Mormugao Port Authority (MPA). Amonkar warned that if these remaining berths are also privatized, it could jeopardize the livelihoods of 1,500 to 2,000 local workers who depend on these jobs.
