OLD GOA
Clarifying on the issue of Curca gram sabha wherein he was told that he had no right to speak as he was not a voter, St Andre MLA Viresh Borkar said that he only tried to calm the fraying tempers so that the meet could carry on.
“I did not try to interfere with the functioning of the gram sabha,” Borkar informed while adding that whatever that happened was unfortunate.
“And I had already informed the Tiswadi BDO that the holding of the gram sabha in an area dominated by migrants was not in the best of interest of the villagers,” Borkar said while adding that he would now complain to the Director of Panchayats, Minister of Panchayats as well as the Secretary Panchayats over what transpired at the gram sabha.
“The extent to which some persons can go to take control of the panchayat committees shows their vested interests,” Borkar opined.
