Ahead of the ensuing Lok Sabha polls, Prime Minister Narendra Modi took the platform of the Viksit Bharat Viksit Goa rally at the Margao KTC bus stand to inaugurate three projects, including the National Institute of Technology at Cuncolim the National Institute of Water Sports at Dona Paula and the waste treatment plant at Cacora.
The Prime Minister also laid the foundation stone for the Rs 290 crore Rope way project, linking Panjim with Reis Magos and the 100-MLD water treatment plant at Xelpem-Selaulim.
Both the NIT permanent campus at Cuncolim and the Cacora waste management plant had already started their operations and the Prime Minister formally inaugurated the projects on Tuesday.
After arriving at the venue and before taking the dais, the Prime Minister went round the exhibition at the stalls set up by the government departments, including Goa Waste management Corporation, Handicraft Corporation, Tourism department, besides a stall put up by the NIT, Cuncolim.
The Prime Minister also handed over sanction letters to the beneficiaries of the schemes at the venue.
