Department of Physical Education and Sports, CES college of Arts and Commerce, Cuncolim organised an inter-college tennis ball cricket tournament and also inter staff cricket tournament in the memory of Minesh Dessai at Napheriya ground Talebhat, Culwada Cuncolim, recently.
A total of 16 teams competed in the students' tournament. They were split into 4 groups of 4, each of which played a round-robin league format before moving on to the semi-finals. First, second, and third place winners in the student competition received cash prizes of Rs 9,000, Rs 6,000, and Rs 4,000 respectively. In the student section, PES College of Arts and Science, Farmagudi Ponda were named champions after defeatingDon Bosco Panaji in the students Section. Government College of Sanquelim for Arts, Sciences, and Commerce had to settle for third position.
A total of 19 teams from all over Goa competed in a knockout format at the inter-staff tournament. This competition, which was planned as a recreational activity and a community outreach project received a great deal of support.
Ganpat Parsekar Education College, Harmal were declared winners of the inter-staff competition. Employees of Ponda Education Society secured second place while Shree Malika Arjun and Shri Chetan Manju Dessai College of Arts, Science, and Commerce, Canacona took third place.
Videsh Dessai was the chief guest for the prize distribution ceremony. Dr Laxman G. Naik, a retired principal of the CES College of Arts and Commerce in Cuncolim. Prakash Dessai secretary at CES, Jaikrishna Dessai, Physical Education teacher at Damodar Higher Secondary School in Gudi Paroda were present as guest of honor.
