Commandos of Indian Navy on Tuesday afternoon rescued a woman from drowning in the waters of River Mandovi after she fell off from the Panaji bridge.
The official release from PRO Defence, Mumbai stated, “During a routine sortie of Indian Navy's Marine Commandos in Mandovi river Goa on February 9, the alert crew saw a woman falling off Panjim bridge and diverted their boat to rescue her”.
The release further adds that the lady was recovered and given first aid. “A naval doctor also examined her and found her in good health.”
Panaji Police have added that the woman from Bardez, who fell in the river waters, is in her late 30s. Fortunately, the team of naval commandos were around who spotted her and rescued her immediately.
“The naval boat was immediately diverted to the scene, and one of the personnel dived into the water to rescue the woman,” the spokesman said.
