Netravali Sarpanch Rajani Gaonkar was on Friday voted out of office in a no-confidence motion by five out of the seven panchayat members.
Those who voted in favour of the motion were Archana Gaonkar, Vithal Gaonkar, Abhijit Satyavan Dessai, Santosh Naik and Prakash Bhagat, while Rajani Gaonkar and Antonia Costa did not attend the meeting which was conducted by a BDO official Sushant Naik and assisted by Panchayat Secretary B M Tilve.
With the ouster of Rajani Gaonkar, Deputy Sarpanch Abhijit Dessai was appointed as acting sarpanch of the village and he cleared several files which had been pending for many months.
Incidentally, a disqualification petition filed by Rakhi Prabhudessai against the Deputy Sarpanch Abhijit Dessai and Rajani Gaonkar is pending for hearing before the Supreme Court.
