New Bill: Chinchinim may hold emergency meet

MARGAO
With the controversial Bhumiputra Adhikarini Bill 2021 tiggering outrage and resentment, the issue is set to reverberate around the state countryside.

A group of Chinchinim villagers led by social activist Savio Lopes dashed off a letter to village Sarpanch with a request to call for an emergency gram Sabha meeting to discuss the issue.

The tenor of the letter indicates that the people have called for the emergency gram Sabha not only to condemn the controversial Bill, but also the elected representatives for not protecting the interests of honest Goans.

'These elected representatives are working for their self interest and vote bank politics', Lopes asserted in the letter.

Lopes, who had led the agitation under the  banner of FORCE to demand government grants for English medium primary schools, said the time has come for all Goans to unite and oppose this controversial Bill.
