The foundation stone for the first phase of the new Corporation of the City of Panaji multi-storeyed building was laid on Thursday.Urban Development Minister Milind Naik laid the foundation stone for the first phase of the project estimated at Rs 11.5 crore in the presence of CCP Mayor Rohit Monserrate, Deputy Mayor Vasant Agashikar, Secretary (urban development) Dr Tariq Thomas, Urban Development Member Secretary Gurudas Pilarnkar and CCP Commissioner Agnelo Fernandes and others.
Monserrate said work of the new building would will be completed within 2 years. The new CCP building will have a parking facility for 55 cars in the basement (28 cars) and stilt floor (27 cars). On the upper ground floor, there will be a municipal office, where the administrative staff, accounts, registration of birth and death sections will be housed.
The building will be disabled-friendly as per standard norms and will have a disabled-friendly toilet facility.
As per the plan of the building, the mayor’s and deputy mayor’s cabins along with the commissioner and administrative office will be on the second floor.
The CCP meeting room and waste management cells will be on the third floor and the corporation meeting hall will be on the fourth floor. Around 500 sq m will be the area built up on each floor.
