There was a glimmer of hope for the displaced GMC kiosk owners and fruits/vegetables vendors, as a portion of the compound wall was demolished to apparently pave way for the rehabilitation plan.
However, the kiosk owners and vendors are not rejoicing as yet as they said they are yet to get any official confirmation about the same.
“The wall has been demolished and work has started, but we do not know for what purpose. We are going to continue with our chain hunger strike till our rehabilitation becomes a reality,” said a kiosk owner, Shakuntala Chodankar.
Former Santa Cruz sarpanch Prasad Naik also stated that unless they get official communication from the MLA or authorities concerned, they cannot rejoice as it would be premature.
Meanwhile, as the chain hunger strike entered the fourth day, Devendra Morajkar and Leena Shirodkar were the ones to continue the same.
Also, Revolutionary Goans President Viresh Borkar visited the striking kiosk owners and vendors and promised support.
“If RG comes to power in 2022, we will ensure that a market area is built for the kiosk owners and fruit vendors outside the GMC,” Borkar promised
