Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said nobody can say when the third wave will come and research on the subject was still going on.
“Nobody can predict the third wave. The research on the subject is still happening all over India,” Sawant said to a query from a journalist.
He said as per the expert committee 3 to 3.5 lakh population in the State was below 17 years of age.
Meanwhile, the Covid vaccination drive is struggling to keep pace in the 45 years and above age group with only 15 people turning out to receive their second dose on Tuesday. The number has been falling continuously over the last two weeks.
On Tuesday, a total of 5,080 beneficiaries came forward to take their first dose of the vaccine.
The State has so far succeeded in vaccinating only 95, 852 persons fully and 2,94,390 partially despite being in possession of 2,76,420 surplus doses allotted for the 45 and above age group as well as frontline and healthcare workers.
The authorities have a surplus of 6,360 doses of the vaccine allotted for the 18 to 44 years age group even as the online registration for this category appears to be on hold.
