The Novena to commemorate the 93rd death anniversary of Venerable Agnelo de Souza will begin from November 11 and conclude on November 20. According to a press note, devotees will not be able to participate in the Novena on the Pilar hillock this year due to Covid-19 restrictions.
However, arrangements have been made to telecast and live stream all Masses. The Masses will be available on GCTV, CCRTV and other channels. The YouTube channel of the Society of Pilar will also live stream all Masses.
The general theme for the celebration of the Novena is “Venerable Agnelo “ Missionary and Witness of Hope”.
Every day, from November 11 to November 20, the Konkani Mass will be televised and live streamed at 7 am, while the English mass at 6.30 pm.
Masses in other languages will also be televised and livestreamed. On November 14, the following masses will be celebrated: Bengali (9.30 am), Gujarati (10.30 am), Marathi (12 noon) and Konkani (Mangalore, 1 pm).
On November 15, the following masses will be celebrated: Malayalam (10.30 am), Hindi (11.30 am), Tamil (12 noon), Punjabi (1 pm).
On November 20, the death anniversary of Venerable Agnelo, the following masses will be celebrated: Konkani Mass at 7 am will be celebrated by Fr Aleixo Menezes, Rector of Rachol Seminary.
The English Mass at 6.30 pm will be celebrated by Fr Sebastiao Mascarenhas, Superior General of the Society of Pilar, while Fr Tony Fernandes, Vice-Postulator of the Cause of Ven. Agnelo de Souza will celebrate the 4.30 am mass in Konkani at the Rachol Church.
The other masses for the day are as follows: Tamil (9.30 am), Marathi (10.30 am), Hindi (11.30 am), Malayalam (3 pm) and Gujarati (4 pm).
Each day of the Novena is dedicated for specific purposes and they are Laity and Family (November 11), Biblical and Catechetical Apostolate (November 12), Sick (November 13), Environment (November 14), Inter-religious Dialogue (November 15), Marginalised (November 16), the Priest and Religious (November 17), the social workers (November 18), the political leaders (November 19) and all devotees (November 20).
The Pilar Society has appealed to devotees to participate in the online Novena Masses and storm the heavens for the early beatification of our Venerable Fr Agnelo De Souza.
