Barely two days after an order was issued to notify the Mormugao Port Trust (MPT) hospital as a Covid Care Centre, another order has been issued keeping the previous notification in abeyance until further notice.
While the reason for the latest notice was unclear, Mormugao Dy Collector Sachin Desai only confirmed that the earlier notification was kept in abeyance.
"The notification dated April 17 notifying the MPT hospital as Covid Care Hospital has been kept in abeyance till further orders," stated an order issued by South Goa Collector Ruchika Katyal, who is also chairperson of the South Goa District Disaster Management Authority.
It may be recalled that Katyal had earlier issued an order notifying the MPT Hospital at Sada as a Covid Care Centre.
The previous order had stated that the entire premise of MPT Hospital along with staff including doctors, nurses, support staff, MTS, etc. has been notified as the Covid Care Centre from Saturday to house asymptomatic Covid positive patients.
"The department/Head of Office concerned shall handover the possession to the Dy Collector Mormugao on Saturday till further orders. Rohit Kadam, Dy Commissioner of Commercial Taxes, is appointed as nodal officer of the Covid Care Centre.”
“He will be assisted by the Mamlatdar of Mormugao. The Health officer of the Urban Health Centre, Vasco, will be overall incharge of the Covid Care Centre," stated the previous order.
