VALPOI
An oxygen plant will be set up at the Valpoi Community Health Centre (CHC) within the next few days.
The Valpoi CHC has been converted into a Covid care centre after a large number of cases were detected in Sattari taluka and, in preparation of a third Covid wave in the near future.
“At present, 30 beds have been provided at the Covid care centre and necessary staff has been appointed. A small oxygen plant will be set up at the centre in the next few days and there will be a provision for some oxygen beds,” said sources at the CHC.
“As a result, patients from Sattari, who used to be sent to Goa Medical College at Bambolim, can now be treated at the Covid care centre itself.”
Meanwhile, the number of Covid cases has been declining in Sattari taluka over the last few days.
“Every day, 100-150 tests are conducted and so far, about 14,000 RT-PCR tests and over 2,500 antigen tests have been conducted. Besides, the vaccination drive in Sattari is well underway and the response has been good. People are, however, urged to participate in the second Tika Utsav vaccination drive in the taluka,” the source added.
