MARGAO
Members of the Paroda gram sabha on Sunday raised the issue of ghost structures in the village, claiming that NOCs and numbers have been issued to non-existent houses.
At the Sunday gram sabha chaired by Sarpanch Rajashree Gaonkar, gram sabha members Gabriel Fernandes raised the issue of ghost structures located in the village. He claimed that the panchayat has issued numbers of structures which are non-existent on the ground.
He was joined by other members as they demanded a thorough probe after it was pointed out that the then Secretary had issued the numbers.
In fact, one of the gram sabha members threatened to file a disqualification petition against the panchayat members if the NOCs and house numbers are not revoked within eight days.
The issue of construction of compound walls at the catchment of the Kushavati river also came up for discussions. Some of the members raised concern over the walls constructed in the catchment area, saying the structures may obstruct the free flow of water during the rains.
