Pedestrian succumbs to mishap injuries

A lady pedestrian from Chandor has succumbed to injuries she sustained in a road accident near Agna Chapel, near Carmel College, Nuvem on Wednesday.

Maina Curtorim police has informed that the accident occurred on December 25 at 20.14 hrs in front of Agna Chapel, near Carmel College, Nuvem, when the accused rider of scooter namely Ashish Patel resident of Aquem, rode his Vespa scooter in rash and negligent manner while proceeding from Verna towards Margao.

The police said the two-wheeler rider hit pedestrian lady namely Fatima Ilario, resident of Chandor who was crossing the road from Agna Chapel to go other side causing injuries to her. She succumbed to the injuries in south Goa district hospital Margao.

The post mortem examination has certified the cause of death as “damage to head and spine consequent to blunt force impact. The body has been handed over to family for final rites. Further investigation is being conducted by LPSI Sonal Gaonkar of MCPS.
