Pernem MLA supporters call on CM, demand ministry for him

PANAJI

The supporters of MLA Pravin Arlekar from Pernem constituency on Sunday met Chief Minister Pramod Sawant at his residence and demanded a cabinet portfolio for their MLA.

The supporters demanded that their MLA who is from SC community be given a ministry so that he can work better for the people and constituency.

"There is an allegation that BJP is the party of upper castes. The BJP has to give ministry to Arlekar to prove this allegation is false," said a supporter of Pravin Arlekar who has been elected from a constituency reserved for SC community.

Many things have to be done for the Pernem constituency and this can be done if Arlekar becomes the minister, said a supporter.

Chief Minister Sawant said that he listened to the demands of Pernem people and has assured to look into the demand.

"People of Pernem met me with a demand to give ministry to their MLA Pravin Arlekar. It is a normal demand of the Pernem people. People want their MLA to be a minister," said CM Sawant.

We may consider the demand of Pernem people. Arlekar may be given a ministry or corporation, added CM.

He said that development of Pernem will not be affected because the constituency MLA is not included in cabinet.

"I have told the people from Pernem that development of the Pernem area will not be affected whether ministry is given to the local MLA or not. Development of all 40 constituencies will be undertaken," reiterated CM Sawant.

CM said that job recruitment of youths from all constituencies will also be taken up.
