Suspecting foul play in the death of BJP leader and actress Sonali Phogat, her brother Phogat Rinku Dhaka in a written complaint to the Anjuna Police alleged that his late sister’s personal assistant (PA) and another friend were responsible for her pre-planned murder and also demanded CBI inquiry into the sudden and mysterious death of his sister.
However, till late in the evening, Anjuna Police had not registered any FIR on the complaint.
Dhaka claimed his sister was allegedly poisoned to death by her PA and the other friend who accompanied her to Goa.
In his complaint, he further alleged that both the PA and the other friend used to threaten, black mail and also take advantage of her in the past few years.
He also informed that theft has been reported Sonali Phogat’s farmhouse in Hisar wherein a DVR, cameras, laptop and mobile was robbed.
While interacting with journalists outside the Anjuna Police Station, Dhaka informed that his deceased sister had called up and spoke to his mother, sister and her brother-in-law and sounded very disturbed on the phone.
“She said she was feeling uneasy and that her hands and feet were numb. She also felt that something was added in her food by her colleagues and the family was told to stay away from those colleagues,” Dhaka said.
According to the brother, his deceased sister was in Chandigarh before arriving to Goa and the family had no idea about travel plans.
He said he was disappointed with the Goa Police because despite of his written complaint, the police refused to register an FIR.
“If police do not file an FIR then we will not allow the post-mortem to be conducted in Goa. We would prefer the autopsy is conducted at the All India Institute of Medical Science in Delhi or Jaipur,” Dhaka said.
He said his sister was an active BJP worker and requested senior BJP leaders as well as Prime Minister Narendra Modi to look into the matter and give justice to her.
Sonali Phogat reportedly died of a heart attack while being rushed to a private hospital in Anjuna early Tuesday morning. The deceased was last seen dinning at a popular beach shack in Anjuna on Monday night hours after which she complained of uneasiness.
Senior police officials, who refused to come on record, informed that the post mortem could not be carried out as the family refused permission to do so.
“We are recording statements in connection with the case,” a police officer said.
