Police deployed at cordoned off shipyard: PI Desai

Maina Curtorim police station in-charge, PI Arun Desai has informed that police has been deployed at the Vijay Marine Services and the shipyard cordoned off from the time the incident occurred three days ago.

He was responding to a query in connection to the direction issued by the Inspector of Factories and Boilers  Anant Pangam directing the Police to ensure that all the activities / operations of the under construction 80M Landing Craft vessel on which the accident occurred and all the confined space work in the entire factory premises, is stopped / suspended with immediate effect until further orders are issued in this regard.

PI Desai further informed that the remaining three workers, who sustained critical burn injuries in the accident, are convalescing at the Goa Medical College and Hospital, Bambolim. He informed that the worker who dislocated his bone in the accident, has been discharged from the South Goa district hospital.
