The first half ended in a goalless draw, with both teams showcasing attacking football. In the second half, Dezwin Dias put Benaulim in the lead, while Edvil Afonso scored the second goal for the team, sealing their victory. Valonuel Gois was awarded Man of the Match by former sports secretary Ligorio Braganza.

Swayam wins SRS chess tourney
PANAJI: Swayam Naik emerged victorious in the 4th SRS Chess Tournament, securing a perfect score of 6 out of 6 points. The event, organised by A-R Tuition Classes in association with 41er Club No. 66 of Ponda, Ajinkya Chess Academy, and PTCA, saw 36 players competing.
Narayan Pagad, Aarush Gaude, Aryan Jojo, Reyansh Kurtikar, Shubham, Siaan Kerkar, and Digvijay Gaude finished in the 2nd to 8th positions, respectively. Trophies were presented by chief guest Sagar Sakordekar (President, PTCA), Uday Sardesai (Secretary, 41er Club No. 66), and other dignitaries. Consolation prizes were awarded to Shravani Gaude, Manvita Kerkar, Lushkalp Gaude, Tansh Gaude, and Divyesh Priolkar. The event was compered by Shraddha Salelkar.

Dhamasker CA U-14 team earn big win
PANAJI: The Vinod Dhamasker Cricket Academy U-14 team registered a dominant 237-run victory over Shahupuri Gymkhana in their opening match. Electing to bat first, VDC Academy scored 340 runs in 40 overs, with Yug Yadav (102), Aishwarya Tripathi (109), and Rehan Hubali (48) leading the charge. In response, Shahupuri Gymkhana were bowled out for just 103 runs in 34 overs. Swapnil Lotlikar claimed 4 wickets, while Yug Yadav, Ritesh Iligar, Shourya Patil, Chetan Lamani, and Parth Sankpal each took 1 wicket.

Taekwondo trials for junior nationals
PANAJI: The Taekwondo Association of Goa will conduct selection trials to finalise the state’s junior taekwondo team for the upcoming 42nd National Junior Kyorugi and 15th National Junior Poomsae Championships, scheduled to be held in Bengaluru, Karnataka, from October 30 to November 2. The trials will take place on October 22 at 9.30 am at the Multipurpose Indoor Stadium, Fatorda. Only players born between January 1, 2008 and December 31, 2010 are eligible to participate. Additionally, players must be registered with the Taekwondo Association of Goa. Interested candidates are required to report with the following documents: original birth certificate, Aadhaar card, valid black belt certificate, one passport-size colour photograph. Participants must report to Theophile Lowe (9764267974) or Rajan Naik (9890041763) at the venue.
